Job Responsibilities.
Provide direct clinical nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department (ED), including triage, assessment, treatment, and evaluation
Perform rapid and accurate initial patient assessments, prioritizing care based on acuity
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as ordered and monitor patient response
Assist with emergency procedures such as cardiac monitoring, wound care, splinting, and stabilization
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMTs/paramedics, and other healthcare team members
Monitor and interpret vital signs, lab results, cardiac rhythms, and clinical indicators
Provide patient and family education on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
Document all nursing care, assessments, interventions, and patient communications in the electronic medical record (EMR) accurately and timely
Maintain a safe, calm, and efficient ED environment, utilizing de-escalation and patient safety practices
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, safety drills, and professional development activities
Respond to trauma, stroke, and other medical emergencies following established protocols (e.g., ACLS, TNCC standards)
Required Qualifications.
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Hampshire or compact (NLC) state
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Current BLS/CPR certification (ACLS preferred)
Previous experience in behavioural health, psychiatric nursing, or mental health settings preferred.
Strong knowledge of psychiatric conditions, psychotropic medications, and crisis management.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity behavioural health environment.
Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain professionalism, empathy, and patient confidentiality.
Must pass background check, drug screening, and health clearance per hospital policy.
