o   33 Beds

o   No Trauma Designation

o   Not a Teaching Hospital

o   Not a Chest Pain Center

o   Not currently Stroke accredited

o   RADIUS RULE: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

●       UNIT INFORMATION:

o   Beds: 4

o   Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years ICU RN

o   Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will accept with strong experience

●       PATIENT TYPES/COMMON DIAGNOSES:

o   Can see any diagnosis except Cardiac Surgical - Sepsis, ARDS, GI Bleeds, DKA, Cardiac Arrest, Withdrawal, Renal Failure, etc.

●       PATIENT RATIOS:

o   RN: 1:1-2

o   CNA: most times 1:10

●       REQUIRED LICENSE, NATIONAL CERTIFICATION, CERTS (BLS, ACLS, ETC.), OR OTHER POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS SUCH AS DRIVER'S LICENSE AND/OR INSURANCE:  

o   BLS, ACLS, NIHSS – Resource Team requirements

●       SKILLS REQUIRED:

o   GENERAL ICU SKILLSET: Critical care gtts experience – insulin, vasopressors, sedation, management of invasive lines (ART/CVP), Cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc.

●       SUPPORT WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT:

o   CNA - Assist with turning, feeding, ADL’s, blood sugars, lab draws, mobility

o   No HUC/Receptionist

o   Charge nurse, 24/7

o   Phlebotomy – RN will be responsible; there is one person in the hospital that could be called upon

o   IV/VAT Team

o   RT, 24/7

o   Hospitalist, 24/7

o   Intensivist, 9a-11a; VCC Coverage for other hours

●       TECHNOLOGY/EQUIPMENT:

o   EMR: EPIC

o   IV Pump: Alaris

o   Med dispensing: Omnicell

o   Unit specific equipment: telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, translator on a stick, virtual cart for rounding with MD’s, Stroke Cart

●       FLOATING:

o   Within region and scope of practice

o   WILL BE REQUIRED TO FLOAT PER REGION NEEDS – WILL REQUIRE FLOATING TO ALL FACILITIES LISTED BELOW, AS NEEDED, WITHIN SCOPE OF PRACTICE – DECLINE IF NOT AGREEABLE

▪         REGION 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises

▪        _If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)_

●       ORIENTATION (facility and unit):

o   NEO

o   2 days departmental

●       SCHEDULING:

o   _STANDARDIZED FOR RESOURCE TEAM -_

o   Weekend rotation: every other

o   No call

o   Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

o   RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours

o   Shift times: 7a-7p and 7p-7a

o   Schedule cycle: every 6weeks
