    ABOUT FACILITY:

o   874 Licensed beds

o   Level I Trauma

o   Teaching Hospital

o   Chest Pain Center

o   Stroke Center

o   Magnet Designated

o   RADIUS RULE: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

●      UNIT INFORMATION:

o   Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years Med/Tele RN exp _(Resource Team)_

o   Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider _(Resource Team)_

●      PATIENT TYPES/COMMON DIAGNOSES:

o   Unit specializes in Head/Neck and GI surgeries: tracheostomies, laryngectomies, hernia repairs, colo-rectal surgery, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, ostomy takedowns, as well as other procedures

o   Medical Overflow

●      PATIENT RATIOS:

o   RN: 1:4-6 (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8)

o   CNA: 1:9-12

●      REQUIRED LICENSE, NATIONAL CERTIFICATION, CERTS (BLS, ACLS, ETC.), OR OTHER POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS SUCH AS DRIVER'S LICENSE AND/OR INSURANCE:

o   BLS, ACLS, NIHSS _(Resource Team requirement)_

●      SKILLS REQUIRED:

o   GENERAL MED/TELE SKILLSET_:_ Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps

o   MEDICATION GTT MANAGEMENT TO INCLUDE: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF

●      SUPPORT WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT:

o   CNA – ratios vary

o   Receptionist/HUC

o   Charge nurse, 24/7 – may or may not have patients

o   Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws only

o   IV/VAT Team

o   Resource Nurse – as available

o   RT, 24/7

o   Hospitalist, 24/7

o   Intensivist, 24/7

o   Telemetry monitoring/tech? No monitoring tech; nurses read monitors and respond

●      TECHNOLOGY/EQUIPMENT:

o   EMR: EPIC

o   IV Pump: Alaris

o   Med dispensing: Omnicell

o   Monitors: Phillips

●      SCHEDULING:

o   Weekend rotation: every other

o   No call for travelers

o   Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

o   RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
