Shift Time: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
On-Call Requirement: Mandatory (No Exceptions)

Job Summary
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. The OR RN is responsible for delivering direct and indirect perioperative patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

This role supports patients across the lifespan, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults. The OR RN coordinates patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists, provides direction to OR Technicians and support staff, and ensures compliance with professional nursing standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care (Pre-op, Intra-op, and Post-op)

Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams

Direct and guide OR Technicians and other support personnel

Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operating room environment

Ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines

Participate in performance improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and in-services

Act as a clinical resource to other staff as needed

Support efficient patient flow and continuity of care across departments

Call Requirements (Mandatory)
Minimum: 1 weekday call per week (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Maximum: 2 calls per week

Weekend Call: Once every 5th weekend

Saturday: 24 hours

Sunday: 24 hours

Call is taken from home via personal cell phone

RN must report to the facility within 30 minutes of being called in

Call schedule may change based on unforeseen circumstances

Required Qualifications
Current and valid State of New Jersey RN License

BLS (AHA) – Required upon hire and must remain current

ACLS (AHA) – Required within 30 days of hire

PALS (AHA) – Required within 30 days of hire

Minimum 1 year of perioperative (OR) experience or documented on-the-job training

Cardiac OR experience – Required

Pre-Op and Post-Op experience – Required

Ability to meet on-call response requirements
