Camp Nurse Wanted for Summer Camp Near Yosemite!

Seeking a capable, caring and enthusiastic RN to lead our Healthcare Team at our overnight/sleepaway summer camp near Yosemite National Park!

We are looking for a nurse who enjoys working with people of all ages and abilities -- someone who wants to be part of a large, friendly, tight-knit team, and who would enjoy being part of general camp life. I.e. When not needed in the Health Center, our campers love when our nursing staff join in with activities like swimming, talent shows, etc. Prior Camp Nurse experience ideal, but not necessary!

Looking for someone to start ASAP, until partway through June. We are happy to talk about covering your travel expenses to and from.

Live-in position. Private housing & bathroom, with all meals provided.

Our Camp Nurse is responsible for:
- Overseeing the overall health and safety of campers and staff;
- Lending direction and support to Nurse Assistants (LVNs and nursing students) working alongside you to create a safe and
healthy camp setting.

Essential Job Functions:
- Distribute camper medications;
- Provide necessary health care to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers;
- Follow our organization's treatment procedures and standing orders from our consulting physician, and organizational policies and procedures;
- Assess camper and staff medical situations and make informed treatment recommendations including in-camp care and referrals to off-site care/treatment when necessary;
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and logs;
- Maintain our Health Center to ensure it is stocked and equipped to provide the necessary health/medical care;
- Communicate with camper parents/guardians before and during Camp sessions with regard to required medical forms, health history, any medical incidents that arise while campers are in our care, etc.
- Conduct health assessments and identify any observable evidence of illness or communicable diseases;
- Work with Program Directors, Healthcare Team, and other Camp staff about any health problems or symptoms of illness which may arise.

- Valid CA nursing license
- Available to start ASAP
- Proficient with computers and able to learn quickly how to use new programs/software
- Willing and able to pass a criminal background check

- Ability to read and follow directions on medication labels, health forms, physician orders, and parent letters;
- Maintain written record system;
- Ability to quickly get to remote locations on camp property over uneven terrain;
- Observe and assess sanitation and safety conditions of the camp;
- Ability to communicate with parents, staff, and administration about camper health concerns;
- Possess endurance to meet emergency needs.
