 ABOUT FACILITY:

o   457 licensed beds

o   Trauma Level III

o   Teaching Hospital

o   Chest Pain Center

o   Stroke Center of Excellence

o   Bariatric Center of Excellence

o   RADIUS RULE: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

●        DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

o   Beds: 23

▪          Avg Daily Census – 21 patients

o   Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months Med/Tele experience

o   Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred, will consider

●        PATIENT TYPES/COMMON DIAGNOSES:

o   Chest Pain, Rule out Stroke, Syncope, Dizziness, Respiratory Illness, a Variety of Diagnoses

●        REQUIRED LICENSE, NATIONAL CERTIFICATION, CERTS (BLS, ACLS, ETC.), OR OTHER POSITION SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS SUCH AS DRIVER'S LICENSE AND/OR INSURANCE:

o   BLS, ACLS, NIHSS _(Resource Team requirement)_

●        RATIOS:

o   RN: 1:4-5

o   CNA: Days 1:7; Nights 1:10

●        SKILLS REQUIRED:

o   GENERAL MED/TELE SKILLSET_:_ Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps

o   MEDICATION GTT MANAGEMENT TO INCLUDE: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF

●        SUPPORT WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT:

o   Supervisor

o   Charge RN – free floating

o   RT, 24/7 – not dedicated to this unit specifically

o   Hospitalist, 24/7 - not dedicated to this unit specifically

o   Phlebotomy: Combined effort between RNs, IV team

o   IV/VAT Team

●        TECHNOLOGY/EQUIPMENT:

o   EMR: EPIC

o   IV Pumps: Alaris

o   Med Dispensing: Omnicell

●        FLOATING:

o   Within region and scope of practice

o   REGION 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only) -- could float to any of the facilities within region if the need arises

●        ORIENTATION (facility and unit):

o   NEO

o   2 days departmental

●        SCHEDULING:

o   Weekend rotation: every other

o   Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

o   RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours

o   Shift times: 0650-1910; 1850-0710

o   Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
