X-ray Technologist

Description

Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety.
Operate various imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, PET scan, mammography, DEXA scan, X-ray, nuclear medicine, and sonography equipment following established protocols.
Apply aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during invasive procedures.
Accurately position patients and adjust equipment settings to obtain optimal images for diagnostic purposes.
Review images for quality assurance before submitting them for interpretation by radiologists or physicians.
Maintain detailed documentation within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic.
Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and hospital policies at all times.
Assist in the calibration and maintenance of imaging equipment to ensure consistent performance.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiologists, physicians, and hospital staff to coordinate patient care.
Stay current with advancements in medical imaging technology and procedures through ongoing education.

Requirements

Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) or equivalent licensure recognized in the healthcare facility’s jurisdiction.
Proven experience operating MRI machines along with proficiency in other modalities such as CT, PET scan, mammography, DEXA scan, X-ray, nuclear medicine, and sonography.
Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to diagnostic imaging procedures.
Familiarity with medical terminology used within hospital settings.
Experience working with EMR systems like Epic or similar electronic health record platforms.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control practices.
Prior hospital experience demonstrating ability to perform under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
Understanding of diagnostic radiology principles including radiation safety standards.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members across diverse backgrounds.
