Orientation and Mobility Specialist

Adelphi is seeking Orientation and Mobility Specialists to provide services to students at schools in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidates will deliver specialized mobility instruction to support students with visual impairments in navigating school and community environments safely and independently.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)

• School-based experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct screenings, referrals, and evaluations to identify students with disabilities in compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines.

• Participate in ARD committee meetings to develop or revise student IEPs.

• Provide and maintain documentation of services delivered in accordance with IEP requirements.

• Maintain FERPA-compliant confidentiality and accurate service records.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
