Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence.
Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Support patients with medical procedures under supervision, including catheter care, wound dressing changes, and basic life support techniques.
Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Document patient observations and care provided in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
Assist nursing staff with medication administration as authorized and trained.
Operate patient lifts such as Hoyer lifts safely to prevent injury during transfers.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, social workers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
Provide compassionate support for patients with complex needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health conditions.
Participate in ongoing training related to EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate record keeping.
Support patients across various care settings including acute care units like ICU or Level I Trauma Centers, outpatient clinics, or home & community care environments.
Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health.
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation.
Ability to perform phlebotomy procedures and assist with medication administration when required.
Strong understanding of infection control practices including infectious disease care and hospice protocols.
Excellent communication skills tailored for working with individuals of varying cognitive and physical abilities.
Experience caring for patients with special needs such as developmental disabilities or behavioral health conditions.
Ability to work effectively within fast-paced environments like emergency medicine or urgent care settings.
Knowledge of geriatrics principles for senior care and long-term patient engagement.
Physical stamina to assist with patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or other mobility aids.
