Job Summary:
Level 2 North is a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit serving a diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients. This fast-paced unit offers excellent learning opportunities for both experienced and developing nurses in a collaborative, patient-centered environment focused on safety, quality outcomes, and evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans based on physical, psychosocial, and spiritual assessments.
• Deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care using clinical pathways and patient-centered practices.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members using SBAR and other professional communication methods.
• Serve as a clinical resource and professional role model while supporting teamwork and a positive work environment.
• Demonstrate strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills in a fast-paced setting.
• Educate patients and families to support positive health outcomes and continuity of care.
• Participate in continuous learning opportunities including certifications, higher education, and professional development.
• Perform additional duties consistent with unit and organizational competency standards.
Requirements
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent, direct Medical Surgical RN experience required.
o Experience must be straight Med Surg nursing experience only.
o Float pool, Step-Down Unit (SDU), or Telemetry-only experience will not qualify.
• Previous Level I or Level II Trauma experience required.
• Travel nursing experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills required.
