🔍 Job Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures using radioactive materials. This role ensures high-quality imaging, patient safety, accurate documentation, and compliance with departmental protocols and regulatory guidelines.
🧑⚕️ Key Responsibilities
Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to safety standards.
Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures including PET, PET/CT, SPECT, and SPECT/CT.
Operate imaging equipment and ensure proper quality control of cameras and related devices.
Position patients appropriately and provide instructions to ensure optimal image quality.
Monitor patients for any adverse reactions to radiopharmaceuticals.
Maintain accurate patient records, procedure logs, and radiation safety documentation.
Follow ALARA principles and all federal/state radiation safety regulations.
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other technologists to ensure workflow efficiency.
Assist in maintaining inventory of radioactive materials and imaging supplies.
Ensure proper cleaning, calibration, and functioning of imaging equipment.
Provide exceptional patient care and maintain a supportive environment.
📘 Required Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.
Certification by ARRT (N) or CNMT.
Valid state license (if applicable — e.g., NYS DOH license for New York).
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Knowledge of PET/CT or SPECT/CT preferred.
