Nebraska Care Givers
Position Summary: Provide LPN/RN nursing services for developmentally disabled clients for a DD Services-approved agency. Position is currently 40% remote/60% on-site. Includes some evenings and weekends. Promote, demonstrate and ensure the values, vision and mission of Nebraska Care Givers, LLC., ensuring the respect, dignity, safety and well-being of clients at all times.
Essential Job Functions:
General:
• Follow policies, procedures and rules of the organization and NE DHHS.
• Maintain confidentiality of those we serve.
• Be available on-call by phone or text for critical medical questions, PRN approval, etc.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize.
• Ability to work independently and in team settings.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copy machine, facsimile equipment, and computer.
• Physical Demands: Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during work hours

Technical:
• Annually approve the agency’s Medication Aide Training Program and sign off on applications for staff medication aide certifications.
• Knowledge of information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, disease, and deformities including symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties/interactions, and preventative health-care measures.
• Ability to interpret after-visit summaries and doctors orders and provide relevant information to management and staff.
• Monitor and schedule participant required annual and semi-annual medical appointments.
• Input and maintain participant physicians lists and medical appointments into Therap.
• Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) for accuracy daily, document errors, update as needed, distribute, and communicate errors to managers.
• Maintain and document medical records in paper and electronic form using Therap.
• Document all nursing care, instructions, and assessments provided.
• Go onsite to participant locations to inventory medications.
• Provide first aid and nursing care to participants as needed and/or directed.
• Perform physical assessment of participants as needed and/or directed.
• Assist with developing individual participant care plans.
Staff and Third Parties Interactions:
• Treat all clients, parents, guardians, co-workers, supervisors and people in the community with respect and dignity.
• Train staff and self-administering clients in first aid, CPR, med tech (medication administration), and other medical-related activities.
• Test competency of staff and self-administering clients in first aid, CPR, med tech (medication administration), and other medical-related activities.
• Counsel staff on how to manage medical issues.
• Notify managers and/or family members of participant health issues as necessary.
• Communicate with medical doctors, pharmacy, and staff.
• Communicate with medical doctors via fax, e-mail, and/or phone regarding prescription refills, order clarifications, or client concerns.
• Communicate with pharmacy via fax or phone regarding medications.
• Provide managers, SLPs and group homes with copies of new orders, changes, and medication clarifications.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Certificate and License Requirements:
• Licensed Practical Nursing or Registered Nurse Certification from an accredited program
• Current Nebraska nursing license
• Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
• First Aid/CPR/AED
• NE DHHS MedAide Registration
Required Qualifications:
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Knowledge and experience using Therap
• Full range of motion, physical strength, and the ability to achieve and maintain training and certifications
• Successfully complete and pass all background checks including:
o Nebraska CPS Central Registry
o Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Background Check
o Nationwide Background Check
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in long-term care or caregiving for individuals with disabilities
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and patience when working with diverse populations.
