REQUIREMENTS:

* 25 bed CAH RN for ICU/PCU -Nights must be experienced in all areas and willing to float to MSU as needed.
* WA license must be ACTIVE.
* 3+ years of experience

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Identifies patient's/significant others needs for patient education and provides education utilizing appropriate education modalities.
* Identifies and provides for patient safety through preventative measures (i.e., side rails, restraints, safe use of equipment, etc.) follows restraint policy correctly, evaluates and documents appropriately.
* Demonstrates knowledge of safe operation of all equipment in the PCU/Telemetry/MedSurg areas.
* Is aware of troubleshooting techniques and follows procedures for repair of essential equipment and able to access equipment manuals.
* Able to care for patients with cardiac monitoring, complex medication regimens and all aspects of PCU level of care.
* Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and physicians.
* Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
* Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
* Maintains a good working relationship within the department and other departments.
* Documentation meets current standards and policies.
* Coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit.
* Demonstrates the ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
* Effectively supervises and directs delegated functions of technical and ancillary personnel.
* Functions as a preceptor for new employees and students as assigned.
* Provides patient and family education as needed.
* Maintains and restocks emergency carts, room and general supplies.
* Other duties as assigned.
