REQUIREMENTS:

* Certified Surgical Technician (CST) with a minimum of 5 years of current experience as a Surgical Technician.
* Must be registered as a Surg Tech with the State of Colorado.
* 5+ years of experience

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Functions as part of the surgical healthcare team, providing technical support to surgeons, RNs, and anesthesia providers in the operating room setting.
* Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
* Arranges supplies and instruments and keeps an accurate count of these at all times.
* Passes instruments and other sterile supplies to the surgeon.
* Helps apply dressings, and helps prepare and preserve specimens taken for testing.
* Operates the sterilizers and runs the various tests to validate and verify sterilization of surgical instruments.
* Validates sterility of packaged supplies.
* Cleans and decontaminates surgical instruments following their use in surgery after regular hours.
* Checks instruments before cases for proper sterility, and ensures instruments are in proper working conditions before and after cases.
* Uses principles of aseptic practice in varying situations.
* Inspects sterile items for contamination before opening.
* Maintains sterility while opening sterile items for procedure.
* Anticipates the need for supplies and equipment.
* Checks supplies for outdates, restocks operating room and orders supplies to maintain an adequate on hand supply.
