Operating Room Registered Nurse

This job description is for an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN – Scrub/Circulator) position in Overland Park, Kansas.

Position: Registered Nurse – Surgery (OR RN)
Location: Overland Park, KS
Setting: 150+ bed acute care hospital with specialized surgical programs including:

Robotic Surgery Center of Excellence
Certified Breast Center of Excellence
Region's only Genitourinary Cancer Clinic
Core Responsibilities
Provide perioperative nursing care in the operating room.
Perform pre-operative patient assessments.
Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures.
Administer IV therapy and pre-op medications.
Verify surgical sites and participate in safety protocols (briefing, time-out, debriefing, universal protocols).
Scrub and/or circulate during surgical procedures.
Monitor patients and respond to emergencies.
Document patient status and changes throughout care.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of recent OR RN experience as a Scrub and/or Circulating Nurse.
Acute care hospital experience required.
Registered Nurse Diploma (or equivalent nursing education leading to RN licensure).
Active Kansas RN license.
BLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification within 30 days of hire.
Schedule
Full-time days.
Start time: 6:45 AM.
8-hour or 10-hour shifts.
Rotating weekends.
On-call participation required.
Compensation
$48.00/hour
Additional $5/hour while on-call
Relocation assistance available on a case-by-case basis.

Required Qualifications for the OR RN – Surgery Position

Licensure & Education

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Kansas.
Registered Nurse Diploma (or equivalent RN nursing education leading to licensure).

Experience

At least 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) RN experience.
Experience as a Scrub Nurse and/or Circulating Nurse in the OR.
Acute care hospital experience is required.

Certifications

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of employment start date.

Schedule Requirements

Ability to work full-time day shifts starting at 6:45 AM.
Must be available for rotating weekends.
Must participate in the on-call rotation.
