Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist for a 13-week travel assignment. The pharmacist will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation and dispensing of medications for a diverse inpatient population. This position requires prior inpatient hospital pharmacy experience, expertise in sterile compounding, and clinical dosing knowledge for a variety of therapeutic areas.
Responsibilities:
Review, prepare, and dispense medications in compliance with established protocols.
Perform sterile compounding including IV preparation, chemotherapy, and total parenteral nutrition (TPN).
Monitor therapeutic drug levels and perform pharmacokinetic dosing adjustments.
Provide clinical dosing for a variety of patient populations including pediatric, geriatric, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric.
Manage inventory, complete inventory and override reports, and ensure proper storage and labeling of medications.
Utilize medication dispensing systems such as Pyxis.
Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide pharmacotherapy management for medical problems across multiple specialties.
Educate healthcare providers and patients on proper medication usage, side effects, and drug interactions.
Float between like units as required by facility.
Key Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience.
Prior travel experience required.
Proficient with Epic charting system (preferred).
Ability to work variable shifts including weekends.
Able to float between inpatient pharmacy units as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred; Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy accepted.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required.
Prior travel pharmacy experience required.
License:
Active and unrestricted California Pharmacist License (required at submission; pending license not accepted).
BLS Certification (preferred).
BCPS Certification (preferred).
RPh credential (required).
