The Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology Chemo Certified provides specialized, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to adult and/or pediatric patients receiving systemic cancer treatments. This role is responsible for the safe and accurate preparation and administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy agents, comprehensive patient education, symptom management, and collaborative care within a dedicated oncology unit or clinic.
Key Responsibilities
Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Administration:
Safely and accurately prepare, verify, and administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other infusion treatments (e.g., blood products, IV fluids) strictly following established organizational and professional guidelines.
Maintain and manage various vascular access devices (e.g., central lines, PICC lines, implanted ports) according to sterile technique and best practices.
Monitor patients closely during infusions for adverse reactions, rapidly assessing and intervening during hypersensitivity or extravasation events.
Travelers ok, locals also ok.
This position is for an RN who will be at at a new state-of-the-art Cancer Center adjacent to Mission Hospital.

Required Skills
Specialized Technical Skill: Expert proficiency in venous access, phlebotomy, and the management of central venous catheters.
Critical Thinking: Ability to rapidly recognize and respond to acute changes in condition and adverse reactions to infusions.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous precision required for medication calculation, verification, and administration of high-alert medications.
Compassion and Resilience: Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic support to patients facing serious illness while managing the demands of a high-acuity setting.
Knowledge of Protocols: In-depth understanding of oncology evidence-based protocols, ethical considerations, and safety regulations for handling hazardous drugs.
Requirements
Years of Experience: 3-4 years
Note: 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE HIGHLY PREFERRED
Charting: EPIC
First-timers accepted: Yes
Locals accepted: Yes but not required
Certifications: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)
