REQUIREMENTS:

* Active Recreational Therapist license issued by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC)
* At least 12 consecutive months of performing similar services within the last 3 years
* BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (with AED)
* Must be proficient in the English Language (Speaking/Writing)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of the Institution's/Facility's CEO/CMH/CMO or their designated representative, the Recreation Therapist's responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

* Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services for Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth. These therapeutic interventions aim to foster social interaction, encourage beneficial and appropriate use of leisure time, and prepare Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment.

* Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and collaborate with primary clinicians, correctional counselors, and other custody personnel to coordinate services.

* Assess recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth, with a focus on activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
