Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
Job Summary:
A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. They assist in implementing therapy plans for individuals with physical, mental, or developmental challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Occupational Therapist in carrying out treatment plans
Help patients perform therapeutic activities and exercises
Teach patients how to use adaptive equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, aids)
Monitor and record patient progress and report updates to the OT
Support patients in improving daily living skills (dressing, eating, mobility)
Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe treatment environment
Educate patients and families on therapy techniques and home exercises
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Certification as a COTA (as per local licensing authority)
Valid state/license registration (if applicable)
