RN Responsibilities

Registered Nurses will provide professional nursing care and clinical oversight within the correctional facility clinic, including:

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and evaluate patient conditions
Provide direct patient care and nursing interventions
Administer medications and treatments as ordered
Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately
Assist with sick call, chronic-care clinics, and follow-up care
Perform wound care and other routine nursing procedures
Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare staff
Respond to urgent and emergent medical situations
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, and preventative healthcare
Follow facility, clinical, safety, infection-control, and security procedures
Communicate effectively with custody and healthcare personnel while maintaining professional boundaries
