REQUIREMENTS:
* Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license in the practicing state(s) or proof of eligibility
* Must have a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American
* SpeechLanguageHearing Association (ASHA) or be eligible to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow.
* Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Supervise CFYs, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as per state licensure and professional standards.
* Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, clinical and billing documentation, and work-related meetings.
* Attend and contribute to patient care conferences and related meetings.
* Refer patients to other disciplines or agencies as needed for comprehensive care.
* Consult with the rehabilitation team and physician to select appropriate therapeutic regimens for each patient.
* Adapt programs and care plans to individual patient needs.
* Ensure a safe environment and eliminate fire and safety hazards.
* Order necessary supplies and equipment.
* Maintain, clean, and report the need for equipment repairs.
* Prioritize patient service, providing high-quality, compassionate care that recognizes individual needs and rights.
* Screen, examine, and evaluate patients to establish diagnoses, identify impairments, and develop treatment plans. Implement speech-language pathology treatments and document services in areas such as cognitive-communication, speech intelligibility, oral motor skills, swallowing disorders, perceptual abilities, orientation, memory, pragmatics, psychosocial expression, functional communication, and case management.
* Coordinate and instruct patients in using adaptive communication devices.
* Identify hearing deficits and refer for further assessment and rehabilitation.
* Select activities suited to patients' physical and mental capacities, intelligence, and interests.
* Instruct patients in therapeutic skills and techniques, and evaluate their progress, attitudes, and behavior.
* Perform routine re-examinations to modify or progress treatment plans as needed.
* Coordinate home and community care with the interdisciplinary team and referring physician.
