Staffing Medical
Psychiatric RN position in Bismarck, ND working in a 25-bed inpatient psychiatric unit serving adolescent and adult patients. Common diagnoses include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and behavioral/personality disorders.
The RN will provide direct patient care, participate in 15-minute rounds, assist with de-escalation and behavioral management, and work closely with mental health technicians, social work, occupational therapy, and other hospital staff. Strong communication, patience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations are important.
Pay: $2,550 weekly blended package
Taxable: $36.22/hr
OT/Holiday: $70/hr
Non-taxable: $1,246/week
Shifts: 7a–7p, 7p–7a; other shifts may include 7a–3p, 3p–11p, 11p–7a
Weekend: Every other weekend
Holiday: Every other holiday
Orientation: 2 × 12-hour shifts
Floating: May float throughout the hospital as helping hands or for 1:1 assignments
Patient ratios: Approximately 3:1 adult and 6:1 adolescent
First-time travelers: Accepted
Radius rule: Must live more than 50 miles from the facility; locals are not accepted
Requirements
Active RN license eligible to work in North Dakota
BLS required
CPI preferred
Acute/inpatient psychiatric or state hospital experience required
Strong de-escalation and communication skills
Comfortable caring for both adolescent and adult psychiatric patients
Adolescent experience preferred
Ability to work with patients experiencing behavioral health conditions and substance abuse
Must be comfortable with direct, hands-on patient care and 15-minute safety rounds
Must demonstrate patience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
First-time travelers are welcome
