RN – ICU
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe and effective patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN delivers direct patient care within the California RN scope of practice, maintains established standards of care, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities include hemodynamic monitoring, interpreting diagnostic results, responding rapidly to changes in patient condition, and maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. The RN also provides patient and family education and guides the activities of other nursing personnel within the ICU.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver direct and continuous nursing care to critically ill patients following ICU standards and facility policies.
Perform comprehensive assessments and implement individualized care plans.
Monitor hemodynamic parameters, diagnostic results, and abnormal findings; communicate significant changes promptly to physicians.
Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
Administer medications and perform procedures within the RN scope of practice.
Provide education to patients and families regarding care plans and therapies.
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and patient-privacy standards.
Support and guide other nursing personnel as needed.
Qualifications
Current and valid California RN License.
Current BLS (AHA) certification.
Current ACLS (AHA) certification.
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in an acute care hospital.
