Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) on a per diem basis. The RN will provide specialized, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient- and family-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for critically ill pediatric patients.
Monitor and interpret vital signs, hemodynamic status, and cardiac rhythms.
Administer medications, IV infusions, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors.
Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and assist during emergencies and code situations.
Collaborate with pediatric intensivists, physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Educate and support patients' families regarding treatment plans and recovery.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Follow infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and hospital policies.
Qualifications
Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification required.
ACLS preferred (facility dependent).
Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or Pediatric Critical Care experience preferred.
Experience with Epic or other EMR systems is preferred.
Strong critical-thinking, communication, and pediatric assessment skills.
Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification required.
ACLS preferred (facility dependent).
Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or Pediatric Critical Care experience preferred.
Experience with Epic or other EMR systems is preferred.
