Duties
Prepare the operating room by ensuring all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile, functional, and ready for use.
Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during procedures by maintaining a sterile field, passing instruments, and managing intraoperative needs.
Monitor patient vital signs continuously, assess patient status, and respond promptly to any changes or complications during surgery.
Administer medications as prescribed, including anesthesia adjuncts, analgesics, and other necessary drugs following aseptic technique.
Document all perioperative activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR systems), including patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Provide preoperative education and post-operative care instructions to patients and their families to facilitate recovery.
Support infection control protocols by adhering strictly to sterilization procedures and maintaining a sterile environment throughout surgeries.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiology staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless surgical workflows.
Assist with emergency situations such as trauma or acute complications by implementing advanced airway management, IV infusion protocols, or ventilator support as needed.
Participate in ongoing training related to new surgical techniques, technological advancements like Epic or Cerner systems, and compliance with hospital standards.
Certification ACLS, BLS, PALS
