SafeTaper, a growing tele-medicine clinic that was purpose-built to de-prescribe benzodiazepines. Many clinics are starting or sustaining benzodiazepines, but very few have the expertise and patience to help people come off benzodiazepines. This is a unique opportunity to work in a niche but critically important area of healthcare, helping clients navigate the complex process of benzo discontinuation while managing withdrawal symptoms and supporting their overall thriving.

Role Description
We are seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team to provide medically-supervised benzodiazepine tapering services. Nurse Practitioners will serve as the primary clinician for up to 100 clients tapering off benzodiazepines and other psychiatric medications. You r primary responsibilities are two-fold. One: manage a safe de-prescribing process. Two: develop and maintain a therapeutic alliance with each client. Nurse practitioners work collaboratively with our founder and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Nathaniel Lepp via weekly one-on-one meetings, weekly rounds, and regular direct communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-develop and revise individualized tapering schedules based on individual factors including age, benzo dose, duration of use, and other factors
- Monitor symptoms intensity and duration throughout the tapering process via video visits, phone calls, and secure messaging
- Conduct monthly follow-up appointments
- Ensure timely and accurate prescription of medication
- Provide crisis intervention and support during difficult phases of tapering (M to F, 9a to 5p)
- Participate in case reviews and treatment planning discussions
Key Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (preferably multi-state compact)
- Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with addiction medicine experience
- Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority
Key Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner
- Experience in addiction medicine, psychiatric care, or withdrawal management preferred
- Experience with telemedicine platforms and remote patient care
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
