Staffing Medical
Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse Med/Surg patient population in a 32-bed unit currently operating with approximately 20 beds due to staffing. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are no more than 1:5.
Patient population includes CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, orthopedic cases, detox, post-operative/surgical patients, cerebral palsy, and pediatric patients. The unit accepts a wide variety of Med/Surg patients, excluding laboring mothers and patients requiring titration of cardiac or insulin drips.
The unit uses EPIC, and strong Med/Surg experience is essential due to the variety and acuity of patients. Nurses may care for patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen, with respiratory therapy assisting with management.
