Endoscopy (Endo) is a 6-bed unit where the RN will circulate and assist the physicians with Endoscopy procedures! The nurses on this unit see patients who experience issues with their GI tract from their mouth to their bottom or lung problems. We work up pre-transplant patients, treat esophageal and gastric varices, GI bleeds, esophageal and colonic stents, diagnose cancers with endoscopic ultrasounds, all biliary and pancreatic patients with ERCP's, many advanced interventional GI procedures (POEM, ESD, EMR). We diagnose many lung cancers with the advanced navigational ION robot, EBUS as well as perform all bronchoscopies.

University ERCP performs the most ERCPs in the United States
Use of ION robot navigational bronchoscopy on over 500 patients at University and Methodist hospitals
IU health pulmonology is in the top 8 in the nation for lung nodule referral
Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
