Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in providing exceptional perioperative patient care. This vital role involves preparing patients for surgery, assisting during procedures, and ensuring optimal recovery outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive nursing expertise, including experience with aseptic techniques, patient assessment, and post-operative care. Day 4x10-Hour (10:30 - 21:00)
Duties
Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all sterile equipment and supplies are ready for surgical procedures.
Assist surgeons and surgical teams during operations, maintaining strict adherence to aseptic technique.
Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition throughout the perioperative period.
Administer medications, including IV infusions and anesthesia support as directed by medical staff.
Document all patient care activities accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Support pre-operative assessments and post-operative recovery, including pain management and wound care.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up.
Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and hospital policies to maintain a safe environment.
Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, recovery processes, and home care instructions.
Participate in ongoing training related to specialty areas such as ophthalmology, cardiology, or trauma medicine.
Skills
Proven experience as an Operating Room Nurse with proficiency in OR procedures and sterile processing.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD coding is advantageous.
Skilled in IV insertion, suturing, catheterization, and airway management techniques.
Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and respond effectively to acute changes in condition.
Experience working within high-acuity environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or ICU settings.
Knowledge of infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and aseptic technique protocols.
Competence in medication administration, specimen collection/processing, and basic life support (BLS).
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with surgical teams and patient education.
Demonstrated ability to handle diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disorders.
Additional skills that enhance performance include familiarity with medical imaging (e.g., sonography), pain management strategies, trauma medicine practices, and post-acute care procedures. REQUIRED: Need experience in Ortho, General, Neuro, Vascular, Urology.
PREFERRED: Experience in Davinci Robots, endovascular and eyes is a bonus.
