Manager of Clinical Services

Description

The Manager of Clinical Services (MCS) is an experienced Registered Nurse who serves as the clinical leader and administrator. This role leads and supports the clinical care team responsible for delivering high-quality hospice care within the community.

The MCS provides oversight, leadership, and direction to ensure patient care is coordinated, compliant, and compassionate. This role offers the opportunity to build a strong culture of caregiving, enhance patients’ and families’ quality of life, and foster a workplace where employees feel valued and supported.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
Receive and review case referrals, including patient history and home visits, to determine hospice care needs
Assign appropriate hospice personnel and collaborate with the Medical Director or Hospice Physician on eligibility questions
Review and evaluate patient cases through home visits, record reviews, clinician conferences, and care assessments
Guide and mentor clinicians to promote effective performance and high-quality hospice care delivery
Assist clinicians in establishing immediate and long-term therapeutic goals and developing Plans of Care
Remain available during operating hours to support clinicians as needed

Operations & Business Management
Accountable for overall branch operations and business performance
Support growth initiatives while managing costs, including medical expenses, DME, and supplies
Oversee maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, and reports
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and professional standards
Maintain appropriate inventory of clinical supplies and equipment

Staff Leadership & Development
Participate in recruiting, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees
Hire, evaluate, and terminate staff under the delegation of regional leadership
Conduct annual performance evaluations (or more frequently when necessary)
Promote professional growth and continuing education for clinical staff
Assist with planning and implementing in-service and continuing education programs

Quality & Community Engagement
Conduct quarterly chart reviews and communicate findings to regional leadership
Participate in quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives
Assess community health needs and assist in developing programs to meet those needs
Participate in public relations and community outreach activities

Additional Duties
Participate in on-call rotation per policy
Attend interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings
Maintain and advance professional knowledge through continuing education
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state(s) of practice
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
Ability to pass background check, consumer report, and drug screening
Valid state driver’s license, reliable transportation, and required auto insurance
Acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications
1+ year of management experience, preferably in home health or hospice
2+ years of nursing experience
