POSITION SUMMARY:
The Center Nurse Executive leads the Center clinical team to fulfill the organization’s mission, vision and values. This position has overall accountability for providing leadership, direction, and administration of day-to-day operations associated with direct patient care activities, nursing practice, and clinical education and development, including continuous improvement of nursing services and staff to meet patients/residents and their families’ needs and expectations. The CNE communicates a shared vision for clinical excellence and ensures the realization of high quality and cost effective health care services that are consistent with Facility evidence-based practices and policies, regulatory and other legal requirements, and philosophies. This position is responsible for driving, supporting and modeling a service-oriented culture focused on top of license practice, interprofessional collaboration, employee engagement, quality, patient safety, service excellence, fiscal responsibility, and the overall patient/resident experience. The CNE collaborates with the Center Executive Director and Center Leadership Team to drive business excellence, including strategic planning, budget preparation, and effective oversight of resource utilization.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Staff Excellence - Promotes a supportive, inclusive nursing environment where team members practice to their full scope, collaborate effectively, and participate in shared decision-making. Ensures strong recruitment, onboarding, education, policy compliance, and performance management, while coaching nurses’ professional growth and partnering with leadership to develop and execute comprehensive People Plans.
Customer Excellence - Maintains current clinical and regulatory knowledge while determining and managing effective nursing staffing models. Oversees quality, cost-efficient care, develops practice models for diverse patients, and ensures coordinated admissions and discharges. Supports interdisciplinary collaboration, leads structured clinical communication, and fosters a learning culture that advances continuous professional development for nursing staff.
Customer Excellence - Creates a culture of service excellence centered on the patient and family experience. Models and coaches effective communication, leads service recovery, and ensures timely notification of patient condition changes. Builds strong professional relationships with community partners, regulators, payors, hospitals, health systems, home health, and hospice providers to support value-based care.
Business Excellence - Maintains current clinical and regulatory knowledge while designing and evaluating staffing models to ensure high-quality, cost-effective care. Develops inclusive nursing practice models, coordinates with interdisciplinary teams, ensures safe admissions and discharges, leads effective clinical communication, and supports continuous learning to strengthen outcomes and professional development.


RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES CONTINUED:

Administrative: Oversees nursing administration through budgeting, business planning, staffing, and performance management. Ensures safe, coordinated care, effective discharge planning, and strong collaboration with medical staff and other departments. Maintains resource availability, promotes a safety culture, leads key clinical meetings, supports labor relations, fosters community partnerships, and provides administrative coverage as needed.
Compliance: Ensures full adherence to all legal, ethical, and organizational compliance standards. Leads and supports the Compliance and Ethics Program, oversees reporting, corrective actions, training, and documentation. Maintains open communication, encourages non-retaliatory reporting, participates in audits and investigations, and evaluates staff performance based on compliance and quality expectations.
Clinical Leadership- Provides strategic nursing leadership by directing a center-wide program focused on safety, teamwork, communication, and growth. Monitors care quality through rounds, supports staff, ensures accurate documentation and PCC use, oversees admissions readiness, engages families and physicians, and promotes reporting systems, metrics, and practices that drive strong clinical outcomes and patient-centered care.
Education:
Ensures all nursing education, training, and competency validations are completed in accordance with Facility policies and state and federal regulations.
Actively supports nursing staff in their professional growth and promotes internal career advancement opportunities.
Confirms that all nursing team members receive comprehensive training in infection control practices to safeguard patients, families, and staff.
Quality Improvement
Implements a strong Quality Improvement (QI) framework for the nursing department and serves as an active participant on the QI Committee.
Ensures patient Care Plans are executed effectively, routinely reviewed, and updated when needed.
Verifies that all Physician Orders are accurately followed.
Monitors and evaluates re-hospitalization trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Ensures all accidents, incidents, adverse events, and grievances are thoroughly documented, investigated, reported, and resolved per policies and federal/state regulations.
Enhances nursing practice by attending all mandatory in-service sessions and external educational programs.
Maintains strict confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, college or university with a current registered nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing.
2. Preferred: 5 years of clinical experience with atleast 2 years experience in nursing supervision in the long-term care setting.
