Care & Support Person for Adult Male w/ X-LID 105

Description

We, Mark and Amy, are looking for someone to help care for our adult 21-yr-old son with special needs. Our son lives on the east side of Madison, WI, and needs 24/7 care and support. We are ideally looking for someone to cover one or two shifts per week. Each shift is 24 hours (7am to 7am). He typically sleeps 10 hrs/night, getting up 1-2 times per night to go potty and get tucked back into bed. There is a separate bedroom for you as a caregiver to sleep in. Our team of caregivers is close and dedicated and looking for someone just as dedicated to be a part of it.
Brian has significant intellectual deficiencies and behavior disorders--and the combination of the two makes everyday life quite challenging for him. When he becomes overly confused, overwhelmed, frightened, or frustrated, he may escalate into a meltdown or panic attack. Caregivers must remain calm, patient, and able to use supportive strategies to help him return to a regulated, comfortable state. NOTE: Attacks/episodes typically include yelling, crying, and pacing but could potentially escalate into more aggressive behaviors such as pushing or hitting. Individualized training on who Brian is and how to best support him will be provided prior to working with him. In addition, safety and security protocols are in place to provide the best possible living and working environment for everyone.
Brian's diagnosis: X-LID (x-linked intellectual disability)
He is very mobile and verbal - similar to a 2-6 yr old in terms of abilities and activities
Kind, gentle, and polite personality; no manipulative behaviors
