 Layout: The unit is large with a nurses' station located at both the front and back, facilitating communication and oversight across the two sides of the unit.

 Common Conditions: o General post-operative patients o Frequent pain management needs o Chest tubes o NG tubes o Heparin drips o Dressing changes o JP drains o Traction Staffing and Support
 Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: No more than 6:1, ensuring adequate attention to patient needs.  Staffing Model: Charge nurse oversees the unit and may have a smaller assignment to assist on the floor.

 The environment is fast-paced with quick turnover of beds, requiring adaptability and efficient time management.  Be prepared for frequent medication administration and various treatment protocols.
 Familiarity with the technology and procedures in the unit will be beneficial for new staff.
