Position Summary :
The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced procedural environment. This role is responsible for delivering safe and effective nursing care, supporting diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, and coordinating all aspects of patient care through the pre-, intra-, and post-procedure phases. The RN collaborates closely with physicians, technologists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and evidence-based practice standards.
Implement, monitor, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Monitor, document, and effectively communicate changes in patient condition.
Act as the primary coordinator among interdisciplinary teams to ensure well-coordinated and efficient patient care.
Receive, interpret, and carry out physician and nursing orders accurately and promptly.
Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization, interventional cardiology procedures, and related diagnostic tests.
Provide intra-procedure support, including medication administration, patient monitoring, and emergency response.
Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team to ensure safe transitions of care.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention, safety protocols, and quality performance standards.
Requirements :
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
BLS Provider certification required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
Experience:
Required: 1–2 years of cumulative relevant job experience.
Cardiac Cath Lab experience required.
Interventional Radiology (IR) experience strongly preferred.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with required professional licensure.
Shift:
Monday–Friday, 07:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Scheduling / Call Requirements:
On-call rotation: Every 3rd weekend
Minimum 16 on-call shifts per 6-week schedule
