Job Summary:
The RN Clinical Periop Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Professional Practice Model, 5-Star Nursing and evidence based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Core Competencies.It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
The Nursing Process: Execute the full cycle of clinical care—assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation—using evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized patient care.
Patient-Centered Approach: Provide relationship-based care tailored to specific demographics (age, gender, disease, and culture). Actively partner with patients and families through bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and "just-in-time" teaching to keep them at the center of the care plan.
Safe & Standardized Practice: Maintain rigorous clinical standards and adhere to all safety protocols, including TJC Patient Safety Goals and organizational safety absolutes.
Additional note:
Shift: 11am-11:30pm
Call Requirements for RN ranges from 28-32hrs in a 4 week period never to exceed 40hrs.
PALS required
No less than 5 years experience in the OR
Strong proficiency in 2 of these 3 specialties: Neurology, Orthopedics, Vascular
Availability to start no more than 4 weeks out
Previous travel experience is a plus but not a must
Required Minimum Education:
Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact
BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
