Job Summary:
Responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric behavioral health patients in inpatient, outpatient, or acute care settings. The Registered Nurse – Psychiatric (RN Psych) delivers direct patient care, performs mental health assessments, administers medications, collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, and supports therapeutic interventions to promote patient stabilization, safety, and recovery. This role requires strong clinical judgment, crisis intervention skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse psychiatric populations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide psychiatric nursing care to behavioral health patients across all age groups
• Conduct mental health assessments and monitor patient conditions
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Document patient care and treatment responses accurately
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, and care teams
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and medications
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic patient environment
• Ensure compliance with nursing standards, safety protocols, and facility policies
Requirements:
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
• Current BLS certification required
• Current BCLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience preferred
• Experience with pediatric, adolescent, adult, or geriatric psychiatric patients preferred
• Strong communication, assessment, and crisis management skills
