This travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse role provides competitive compensation of $3,400 per week and places experienced L&D nurses on temporary assignments supporting labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including assessment, monitoring, and interventions during labor and delivery.
Perform continuous and intermittent fetal monitoring, interpret tracings, and escalate concerns to providers as needed.
Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including preparation, sterile technique, and newborn transition support.
Administer medications and epidural care per facility policies and provider orders, and monitor maternal responses.
Manage obstetric emergencies (e.g., shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage) with prompt, evidence-based interventions and teamwork.
Provide postpartum care and education to patients and families on newborn care, breastfeeding support, and discharge instructions.
Document assessments, interventions, and patient education accurately in the electronic medical record and communicate changes during handoffs.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (OB providers, anesthesia, neonatology, lactation consultants) to coordinate patient care.
Required skills
Strong clinical skills in labor and delivery nursing, including fetal monitoring and interpretation.
Critical thinking and rapid decision-making skills in high-acuity obstetric situations.
Proficient in electronic medical record documentation and accurate charting practices.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills with patients, families, and clinical staff.
Ability to adapt quickly to new facilities, unit workflows, and team dynamics as a travel clinician.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ability to maintain current certifications during assignment.

Relevant qualifications
Active CA RN license in the state.
Minimum 2 years of recent labor and delivery nursing experience (preferably with recent delivery experience).
Certifications: BLS required; NRP, Fetal Monitoring (e.g., AWHONN or facility-required) highly preferred. ACLS may be required by some facilities.
Current immunizations, negative TB test/IGRA, and ability to pass background check and drug screen per facility requirements.
Willingness to travel and adapt to new clinical settings; flexibility for 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and on-call as required by assignment.
