Director of Vocational Nursing (VN Program Director)

About the Role
CyberTex Institute of Technology (CIT) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse leader and nurse educator to serve as Director of Vocational Nursing. This is a key leadership role responsible for guiding, maintaining, and strengthening our Vocational Nursing (VN) Program during a period of continued institutional growth and program development.
The Director of Vocational Nursing provides academic leadership, regulatory oversight, faculty mentorship, and programmatic vision, ensuring compliance with Texas Board of Nursing (BON) requirements while fostering a supportive, student-centered learning environment.
This position is primarily administrative and leadership focused, with limited teaching responsibilities (no more than 8–10 contact hours per week on average).

Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Administration
• Provide overall leadership, direction, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the VN Program in accordance with Texas BON rules and institutional policies.
• Maintain responsibility for curriculum oversight, program outcomes, student progression, and program evaluation.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the Texas Board of Nursing and other regulatory or accrediting agencies.
• Develop and manage the annual VN Program budget.
Faculty & Staff Oversight
• Recruit, orient, mentor, evaluate, and support nursing faculty and program staff.
• Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative teaching-learning environment.
• Preside over the Nursing Faculty Organization (NFO) and ensure compliance with NFO policies.
Student Success & Compliance
• Over toggle student admission, progression, remediation, discipline, probation, dismissal, and graduation processes.
• Ensure compliance with all program policies related to student supervision, evaluation, and clinical learning experiences.
• Coordinate clinical site selection, evaluation, and maintenance of affiliation agreements.
Regulatory & Reporting Responsibilities
• Ensure timely submission of all required BON, Texas Workforce Commission, and agency reports.
• Maintain accurate and compliant program records and documentation.
• Attend required BON meetings and professional nursing education conferences as appropriate.
• Oversee completion and submission of Affidavits of Graduation.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license or privilege to practice in the State of Texas
• Master’s degree in Nursing (required)
• Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience
• At least one (1) year of teaching experience in a pre-licensure nursing education program
• Demonstrated experience or preparation in nursing education and administration
• Ability to meet all BON continuing education, CPR, immunization, and compliance requirements
Preferred:
• Prior experience in program leadership, coordination, or academic administration
• Experience with vocational or practical nursing programs
