Position Summary: Responsible for directing, modifying, and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as supervised by the Physical Therapist. Administers treatments and physical agents as directed by the Physical Therapist after the Physical Therapist has evaluated the patient. The PTA assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The PTA participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department, and participates in PI activities. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational training, and fire safety programs. Patients cared for or interacted with are infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric. Position Qualifications: Graduated from a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)-accredited physical therapy assistant education program. Usually a 2-year degree that covers essential topics such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, and clinical pathology. Experience is preferred but not required at this time Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska as a Physical Therapist Assistant or have all appropriate FSBPT paperwork completed to work as a Student Physical Therapist Assistant post-graduation while studying to take the licensure exam. Current BLS. * Free housing provided by the facility. Male or Female only units. Travel/Agency responsible for booking travel to and from Bethel but YKHC will reimburse at BASE fare for flights to assignment and at the end of assignment. These are competencies required by JC, all nurses should have them and/or will need them for our facility. Agency nurses are to arrive with documentation of these competencies: IV / Central Line Site care (all) Fall precautions (all) Age Specific competencies (all) Abuse / Neglect (all) Pain Mgmt (all) Restraints and seclusion (ER and Inpatient) End of life (Inpatient) Infant abduction (OB) Blood transfusions (all) BLS current for duration of position (all) ATTENTION: Agency nurses will need to be prepared to take a math test on medication calculations for adults and pediatrics upon arrival and before working the floor. YKHC will provide return transportation (at the cost to the organization) upon termination of an employment agreement unless the termination is a result of: i. falsification of employment application; ii. violation of the organizations Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy; iii. fighting; or iv. unexcused absence from duties for more than three consecutive scheduled work days v. voluntary removal from the agency and/or traveler
