Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care during cardiac catheterization, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and vascular procedures. The RN supports physicians throughout diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, ensures patient safety, and maintains adherence to all cardiovascular care protocols. This role requires strong critical-care skills, rapid response capability, and the ability to participate in frequent STEMI and stroke on-call coverage.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic interventions using sterile technique.
Administer medications, manage sedation, and monitor hemodynamic status throughout procedures.
Prepare procedural rooms, equipment, supplies, and emergency equipment.
Monitor patients pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure; document all care accurately and timely.
Respond rapidly to STEMI, stroke, and emergent Cath Lab activations.
Maintain strict adherence to infection control, radiation safety, and cardiovascular protocols.
Collaborate with cardiologists, technologists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure coordinated care.
Participate in on-call STEMI/stroke rotation as scheduled.
Qualifications:
Current and valid New Jersey RN license.
Current BLS (AHA) certification.
Current ACLS (AHA) certification.
NIHSS certification required.
Minimum 2 years of recent Cath Lab, ICU, or Cardiac Step-Down experience in an acute care hospital.
Strong knowledge of cardiac hemodynamics and emergency cardiovascular protocols.
Shift Details
Two shift patterns available:
4×10-hour shifts: 0630–1730
5×8-hour shifts: 0630–1430
Additional requirements:
10–15 on-call shifts per month for STEMI and Stroke coverage.
