CentralCare Incorporated is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to provide full-time nursing services at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Compensation & Benefits

$60.00/hour – Base Rate

$4.93/hour – Health & Welfare (H&W)

80 Hours PTO – accrued annually based on wage determination

56 Hours Sick Leave – accrued annually

11 Paid Federal Holidays

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing or higher.

Must be a graduate of a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Experience

Minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last two (2) years prior to contract execution, including experience providing care to adults and newborns.

Licensure

Must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license, as required for the position.

Required Certifications

The following certifications are required:

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Certifications must be obtained through an American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) training program.

Online-only certifications will not be accepted.

Operating Room RN Responsibilities

The Operating Room RN will provide safe, high-quality nursing care throughout the perioperative process. Responsibilities include:

Provide pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative nursing care.

Assist with conscious/moderate sedation.

Recover post-surgical patients, including post-cesarean section patients under general anesthesia.

Administer and support infusion therapy services.

Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and other providers during complex or potentially life-threatening procedures.

Assist with insertion of invasive lines, chest tubes, tracheotomies, and removal of foreign bodies from the trachea/endotracheal tubes and nasogastric tubes.

Administer, titrate, assess, and monitor medications and reversal agents in accordance with licensure, certification, and established protocols.

Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.

Clinical Responsibilities

Provide age-specific nursing care in accordance with established SOPs, provider orders, policies, and procedures.

Perform 12-lead EKG placement and monitoring.

Assist with PAP/pelvic examinations and PAP smears as required.

Provide care for intravenous access devices, including ports, catheters, Broviac/Hickman catheters, and PICC lines.

Obtain eye, throat, nasal, and wound cultures.

Insert and maintain oral and nasopharyngeal airways and provide positive-pressure ventilation as appropriate.

Perform visual acuity testing.

Conduct telemetry monitoring.

Obtain orthostatic vital signs.

Perform wound cleaning and dressing changes.

Perform phlebotomy.

Perform eye, wound, and ear irrigation.

Provide sterile preparation for minor surgical procedures.

Perform Accu-Chek/finger-stick testing.

Administer immunizations to appropriate age groups following medical record review.

Set up, operate, and monitor required medical equipment.

Maintain peripheral venous lines.

Patient Care & Documentation

Complete patient histories and medication reconciliation.

Perform physical assessments, vital signs, measurements, health screenings, and behavioral health nursing assessments as required.

Access and document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Provide appropriate patient and family education.

Communicate patient concerns to providers and appropriate clinical leadership.

Prepare examination and procedure rooms.

Assist providers during procedures.

Properly label and transport specimens for laboratory processing.

Emergency Response

Participate in CODE responses and initiate emergency interventions as required.

Respond to cardiopulmonary arrest and coordinate Emergency Medical Services (EMS) when necessary.

Respond to neonatal resuscitation situations and coordinate pediatric support as required.

Additional Responsibilities

Clean, disinfect, and reassemble medical equipment according to applicable standards.

Restock procedure rooms with necessary supplies, forms, and linens.

Dispose of medical waste and soiled linens appropriately.

Notify appropriate personnel regarding supply needs.

Perform daily quality-control checks on clinic glucose monitors.

Assist front desk operations when directed by clinic leadership.

Maintain a Competency Assessment Folder and complete all mandatory training.

Prepare the clinic for daily operations.

Transport patients safely throughout the medical facility.

Follow all applicable Defense Health Agency (DHA), hospital, regulatory, and Joint Commission (TJC) policies, procedures, and standards.

Schedule appointments using CHCS when required.
