JOB TITLE: Nurse Practitioner

Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced-practice medical care to patients within the correctional facility, including medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management in accordance with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform comprehensive patient assessments and medical evaluations.
· Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
· Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions per regulatory authority.
· Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies.
· Provide emergency medical response and stabilization.
· Maintain detailed and compliant medical records.
· Participate in medical quality assurance and peer review.
· Ability to pass:
o Background Investigation
o Drug Screening
Training Requirements
· Emergency medical response training.
· Sexual abuse response and forensic exam procedures.
· Annual suicide prevention and mental health crisis training.
· Master’s degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
· Current, full, and unrestricted NP license in the state of employment.
· National board certification as an NP (AANP or ANCC).
· DEA registration if authorized to prescribe controlled substances.
· Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
· Minimum one (1) to two (2) years of advanced-practice experience preferred.
