Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Nurse to provide comprehensive healthcare services within an educational setting. The School Nurse will be responsible for managing student health needs, administering first aid, and coordinating care plans to promote a safe and healthy learning environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a compassionate approach to student care. Prior experience in pediatrics, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or trauma centers is highly desirable, along with familiarity with medical documentation standards.
Duties
Assess student health conditions through vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews
Administer medications following established protocols
Provide emergency care for injuries or sudden illnesses
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Develop and implement individualized care plans for students with chronic or acute health issues
Coordinate with parents, school staff, and healthcare providers to ensure appropriate treatment and follow-up
Conduct health screenings and immunizations as required by school policies
Educate students and staff on health topics such as hygiene, disease prevention, and emergency procedures
Manage medical supplies and ensure the proper functioning of medical equipment within the school clinic
Stay current with best practices in pediatric nursing, emergency response, and school health regulations
Skills
Extensive experience in pediatrics, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or Level I/II Trauma Centers is preferred
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to pediatric and adolescent care
Proficiency in accurate medical documentation and recordkeeping
Skilled in patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and injections
Ability to perform patient care efficiently in high-pressure situations such as urgent care or ER scenarios
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, staff, and healthcare teams
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of student health information
Capable of working independently while maintaining a collaborative approach within the school environment

School Nurse/Non-Instructional Standard Certification preferred
Degree Requirement: Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Licensure Requirement: A current NJ registered professional nurse licensure issued by the NJ State Board of Nursing
Salary Range:
$61,000-$97,528
