Registered Nurse Supervisor
The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center inpatient and outpatient Transition Program. The Registered Nurse Supervisor provides nursing oversight for all aspects of the program and oversees daily operations and is a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The Registered Nurse Supervisor will be responsible for developing and maintaining a standardized environment to meet Texas CCBHC and CARF standards consisting of patient focused care, defining standards for evidence-based quality patient care, managing, and developing a positive nursing environment, hiring, scheduling and training staff as well as providing leadership to the nursing team.
Essential Functions
Competence appropriate to understanding program reports and implementing informed interventions to augment success on all applicable metrics.
Can promote the program’s appeal utilizing strategic marketing strategies in the community and by representing the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center with the highest level of professionalism in both attire and mannerisms.
Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
Evaluates clinic nurses/medical assistants to include processes, job performance and patient relations (annual observation).
The RN Supervisor provides leadership to clinical colleagues and serves as a subject matter expert for medical concerns at any program within the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center.
Provides ongoing nurse competency assessments.
Address problems involving medical staff.
Participates in research and teaching programs which includes working with TCU/UTA Preceptor program.
Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures training is obtained.
Able to delegate tasks appropriately amongst team members and establish a sense of balance and organization conducive to the consistent success of the program.
Maintain the ability to guide staff in assessing and determining which services best meet ongoing patient needs and help employees track the progress toward recovery goals.
Capable of managing the hiring, onboarding and coordination of ongoing training and support for all nursing staff involved in the coordination of services for the patients of the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center.
Responsible for the supervision and guidance of all team members which requires a working knowledge of all team member responsibilities and requirements to ensure completion at the highest levels.
Able to exercise constant flexibility and adaptability to accommodate the inherent nature of the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center as it relates to all aspects of service provision.
Demonstrates impeccable communication skills and a commitment to leadership development for oneself and team members.
Exercise the ability to serve as a liaison between all internal and external stakeholders
Capable of mitigating conflict amongst team members to maintain a trauma-informed working environment for employees and a comfortable/safe space for persons served by following agency guidelines and HR proceedings
Determined ability to translate and implement the vision and guidance of the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center Leadership Team to the program’s team members and persons served
The RN Supervisor will perform all essential duties assigned to Registered Nurses in the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center:
The RN will complete nursing assessments and nursing interventions as needed for patients within the Mental Health Diversion Center to best gauge the behavioral and physical health needs of the patient.
The RN exercises the ability to provide succinct communication with team members and informs colleagues of all pertinent patient updates.
The RN can make medication decisions for the patients served at the Center and provide oversight/guidance for unlicensed staff in medication competency and related tasks.
The RN can complete all clinical documentation regarding interactions with patients in the electronic health record within the applicable time constraints.
The RN serves as a subject matter expert for medical concerns at the Center.
The RN coordinates responsibilities with the MA/LVN if available to better facilitate the division of Center responsibilities and allow for RN to concentrate on working to the top of their licensure whenever possible.
The RN demonstrates exemplary ability to serve as a liaison between the clinical team and the patient by providing excellent customer service, bedside manner, and overall education/explanation/implementation of each aspect of services.
Maintain the ability to assess and determine which services best meet ongoing needs of the patient and help track the progress toward recovery goals.
The RN operates in accordance with all applicable procedures and guidelines including the Nurse Practice Act for all written and verbal medical orders.

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.
Knowledge of nursing assessment techniques.
Working knowledge of psychopathology and DSM V classes of major mental illness.
Knowledge of the principles of Crisis Intervention.

Ability to think clearly under pressure and to perform effectively in high stress situations.
Knowledge of community resources and demonstrated skill in making productive person-centered referrals.
Knowledge of all applicable standards for the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center including, but not limited to, CARF, 1115, Performance Contract, Info Item V, TAC, CCBHC, and more.
Knowledge of all applicable agency policies and procedures.
Ability to maintain clear and concise documentation.
Ability to provide leadership consistent with the ideals of the Mental Health Jail Diversion Center (namely Servant Leadership, 360 Leadership, and more)
Demonstrated ability to grow and consistently challenge oneself and team to improve efficiencies and results on the individual, team, program, and departmental levels.

Internal & External Customer Service
This position requires extensive internal and external contacts with persons served, family members, significant others, internal staff, external staff, service providers and practitioners, and community partners. The employee accomplishes communication with exceptional written and verbal skills by answering phone calls and emails in a timely fashion as defined by program needs as well as conducting themselves professionally in all interactions.
Travel
The company vehicle should be used when available for the transporting of patients.
You may be expected to use your personal vehicle up to 70% of the time.
Staff member is responsible for maintaining accurate records and submitting them on time to receive compensation allowed per division policy.
Staff member is responsible to pay in full any traffic tickets and fines for traffic violations while working. In the case that the ticket/fines are sent to the agency in lieu of the employee, the amounts will then be deducted from the employee’s paycheck.
In the case that a personal vehicle needs to be utilized, permission needs to be received from the employee’s direct supervisor at each occurrence especially if transporting a patient in the personal vehicle. Furthermore, the employee must demonstrate that they have extended insurance coverage/ride-share insurance paid for at the employee’s expense.
Any and all vehicular incidents including accidents need to be reported to the employee’s direct supervisor as soon as possible especially if it involves a patient. Furthermore, the employee will be required to submit themselves to a medical drug screening at an agency OHS location within 24 hours of the incident.
