Description
Assumes accountability for the quality of patient care and department operations.
Collaborates with physicians, patients, families, staff and management.
Acts as a liaison between unit and the rest of the hospital speaking for the unit and keeping the unit’s staff informed regarding hospital affairs.
Accountable for the financial performance of the unit.
Plans strategic development strategies to ensure quality of care.
Recruits, hires and evaluates all staff.
Identifies opportunities to utilize self-directed work teams and manage associated implementation activities.
Oversees staff development and educational activities of the units including seminars and training.
Directs the development and implementation of policies, systems and programs to guide assigned functions, activities and responsibilities.
Implements action plans to improve quality and patient satisfaction.
Recommends and implements programs to improve efficiency.
