Job Summary:

As an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), you act as resident advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual resident needs through collaboration with other members of the health care team and supporting the philosophy, objectives and goals of the facility. The ADON coordinates resource utilization, timely and appropriate care interventions, and interdisciplinary communication to enhance patient and family satisfaction, adherence to center's clinical systems and regulatory compliance for the center. The ADON is responsible for collecting, trending, analyzing and reporting data and manages the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Nursing (DON).


Essential Functions:

Assist the DON with management of the nursing department.
Assist in interviewing applicants and recommends hiring of staff and scheduling.
Participate in orientation and in-service education training.
Assist Director of Nursing in ensuring compliance with regulations for documentation from physicians and nursing personnel and ensuring that all regional policies/procedures are implemented.
Assist with care planning process.
Make rounds daily to direct the work of employees and to observe for hazards, work duty problems, and ensure services are delivered to clients consistent with needs.
Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement and corrective follow-up actions.
Follow up daily on each unit to ensure changes in status are reported and recorded and that services are provided.
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, completes chart audits and reports results and progress, and makes recommendations for improvement to the Director of Nursing.
Ensure proper infection control techniques are utilized.
Maintain effective communication with families, residents and facility staff.
Performs other duties as assigned by the DON.

Requirements
Education:  Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or foreign equivalent) is acceptable



License/Certification:  State of New York Registered Nurse license (or in the process of obtaining the license); or National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN); or CGFNS Certificate.  Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.  MDS Certification preferred. Will consider working knowledge of the MDS tool and related processes, must be willing to obtain certification.




Experience: 5 years of long term care experience preferred.  10 years of Nursing leadership experience
