Since its establishment in 2005, Gastro East has remained dedicated to its mission of providing exceptional gastrointestinal care to the residents of Eastern North Carolina and surrounding areas. It has become increasingly clear that the physician shortage in the Eastern North Carolina community has resulted in one of the most underserved populations in the United States. The demand for gastroenterology as a subspecialty has grown as the prevalence of colon cancer increases and it has become the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. At Gastro East, we recognize the importance of providing quality care and the urgent need to meet the gastrointestinal health needs of our community. Our vision is to address the healthcare disparities that exist and to continue to offer our community the highest standard of evidence-based medicine at our state-of-the-art center, equipped with the latest technology and equipment, and a team committed to patient satisfaction.
