Orlando seeks to hire Technician II who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Department Profile:

The Pharmacy Department is open 24 hours a day and is staffed with approximately 130 employees, including pharmacists, technicians, a medication safety coordinator, inventory control specialists, and an administrative coordinator. The entire pharmacy team works together to assure patients receive the highest quality pharmaceutical care possible. From our central pharmacy and 6 satellite pharmacy locations, we dispense 15,000 doses of medication daily. Through Cerner Millennium CPOE and Pharmacy management system, the Pharmacy processes more than 10,000 orders per day. Pyxis dispensing cabinets help distributes 90% of the medications for administration. The Pharmacy department manages a $55 million dollar drug budget. Lexicomp serves as the system drug information

Work Hours/Shifts:

5 - 8 hour days, every other weekend, 2:30pm-11:00pm

Job Summary:

The pharmacy technician performs a wide range of supportive duties to assist the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medications so that patients will receive care consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the Retail Pharmacy and Florida Hospital Administration. Technician will perform all required duties/tasks necessary to provide for the effective daily operations of all department services and programs. Technician should be able to handle a high volume of work with minimal direct supervision and perform all level I and II job functions. Technician should actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:
•High School graduate or G.E.D. certification. (Preferred)
•Retail Pharmacy experience, at least 2-3 years (Preferred)
•Experience with obtaining payment of prescriptions from insurance companies (Preferred)
•Competent in medical terminology, medication names and medication uses (Preferred)
•Proficient with prescription-filling software and other computer skills (Preferred)
•Ability to work under pressure (Preferred)
•Ability to interact professionally with public and other medical staff (Preferred)
•Knowledge of compounding oral/topical medications (Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
•Must be registered with The Florida Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern
•Technician certification (PTCB) or ability to obtain within two years (Preferred)
