The Nurse is a member of the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) that includes a Psychiatrist, Social Worker, Substance Abuse Counselor, Mental Health Nurse, and other professional and paraprofessional staff. This person is licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and possesses the clinical skills and experience to assess, plan, develop, coordinate and provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services for individuals. The purpose of this position is to assist and support supported individuals of ACTT in the development of skills, behaviors, responsibilities, and supports needed to live, learn, work, and be integrated into the community with the greatest possible degree of self-determination and independence. This person will provide nursing services including administration and monitoring of medication, nursing assessments and interventions. Under the direction of the team psychiatrist, the nurse will develop, revise, and maintain medication protocols, policies and procedures. The nurse will record and administer psychotropic medications prescribed by the team psychiatrist. The nurse will evaluate and chart psychotropic medication effectiveness, complications, and side effects.
