Registered Nurse
Pay range: $26.34-34.00/hour
JOB OVERVIEW:
To provide competent professional medical services to all the individuals receiving day and residential services. To comprehensively deliver care to individuals utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. To interact with individuals and their families, clinicians and direct support staff effectively and professionally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilization of the nursing process by demonstrating appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the individual’s care. Make accurate and ongoing assessment of the individual’s status and respond appropriately.
Administer medications and treatments in accordance with all laws, regulations and rules of the state of Rhode Island and federal regulatory agencies.
Update and maintain complete and accurate documentation of the individual’s current health status and medical history. Including medical status notes, annual nursing summaries, medical reviews and other related documentation.
Responsible to correctly transcribe and implement physician’s orders in a timely manner.
Administers emergency first aid immediately and accurately, when needed.
Trains individuals and staff as necessary, providing appropriate health and wellness information.
Demonstrates ability and appropriate technical skills when administering treatments and procedures in accordance with physician’s orders and agencies policy and procedure. Provides direct patient care when necessary, including emergency first aid
Respects confidentiality and privacy, and communicates in a courteous and professional manner.
Consistently works in a positive and cooperative manner with the nursing team, clinical team members, family members, physicians, and other community health providers.
Reports safety violations when noted.
Treats each individual with dignity and respect.
Provides nursing coverage to other programs when needed.
Follows on-call protocol for evening and weekend nursing coverage.
Attends scheduled monthly meetings i.e. nursing, clinical, core meetings and ISP
Follows and implements all clinical services and programs as in-serviced:
Verbal interactions as per behavioral support training
Physical interventions as per behavior support training
Communication
PT/OT
Attends required annual in-service programs, participate in continuing education relating to developmental disabilities nursing.
Performs all other related work as required.
Peripheral Duties and Responsibilities:
To be actively involved in medical and health related committees within the agency.
